Advanced Cardiac Therapeutics
Advanced Cardiac Therapeutics (ACT) was founded in 2007 to specialize in advanced irrigated cardiac catheter ablation systems with proprietary temperature-sensing based on its VERITAS™ microwave radiometry technology. Cardiac ablation treats various arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation, a progressive disorder that, left untreated, significantly increases the risk of stroke and other co-morbidities. Atrial fibrillation currently affects 2.7 million patients in the United States alone, with 75,000 new cases diagnosed annually†.
ACT's corporate mission is to bring complete lesion control to irrigated cardiac ablation procedures through a full line of products based upon its proprietary VERITAS™ Technology platform. The approach to complete lesion control is focused on providing real-time feedback on lesion formation. This added information is provided without changing the fundamental use of a standard manually steerable 7F irrigated catheter and with no need for the physician to learn new techniques.
The TEMPASURE™ Catheter is the first in ACT's platform of products that will ultimately allow the physician to plan, measure, and control the lesion volume – something that is not possible today. With ACT's technology and products, the physician will be able to improve and assess the safety and effectiveness of the treatment of disorders such as atrial fibrillation in real time during the procedure.
