Current Clinical Dilemma:

The introduction of saline irrigation to catheter ablation yielded a number of positive benefits, but one of the disadvantages of saline irrigation was the loss of temperature feedback. Today, most clinicians use power settings to drive ablation. However, in the real world power is not necessarily directly correlated to tissue temperature due to other external influences. Conditions and variations in areas like contact, force, blood flow, surface tissue condition (smooth/rough) and others will all have an effect on heat and power transfer The clinical issues that arise from this approach are two-fold: 1) lesion quality is poorly understood because it is impossible to know if the ablation is merely stunning the tissue or reaching the required temperature (specifically at depth) to effectively ablate the heart wall tissue; and 2) current ablations pose a safety risk because there is no determinable way to know when you have reached the desired temperature or exceeded it- and the risk of overheating remains.

Temperature at Depth. Delivered.

The TEMPASURE™ cardiac ablation catheter is the first product in ACT's VERITAS™ Technology product portfolio. The TEMPASURE™ catheter integrates open saline irrigation with proven in-tissue temperature knowledge. Unlike standard irrigated catheters, TEMPASURE™ is not affected by saline cooling. VERITAS™ Technology allows accurate temperature readings of a volume of tissue – corresponding to the lesion size and depth.
